Behaviourist
Behaviour Services
Any puppy or dog - of any age, sex and any breed - can have a behaviour problem. This simply means the problem is more complicated, or more serious, than those which dogs typically suffer from and display.
You will require our behaviour service if your dog is displaying aggression towards you, your family, friends and visitors, members of the public in general, or your vet and groomer. If your dog is showing such behaviours to your other pets, we will also be able to help.
Because behaviour problems are often more deep-seated, complex, and perhaps long-standing than regular training issues, we need your vet to refer you onto us as well as checking your dog’s health, to make sure that illness or pain are not causing or exacerbating the behaviour. By diagnosing or ruling out underlying pain or illness which can trigger behaviour problems, it can help us diagnose the causes.
And your vet may need to be actively involved in helping us all solve the behaviour problem together, by providing behavioural medicine which can help multiply the effectiveness of the behaviour modification plan.
When Do You Need A Behaviourist?
Do you need more than dog training? The answer is yes, if:
When pain or medical factors might be involved.
When there is an unusual level of risk involved for any participant, including your dog or members of your family, the public or even yourself.
If either of these ring true, then your vet will need to refer your dog onto us so we can provide you with our behavioural service.
Still not sure? Email us at info@animalkind.biz and we will provide you with a behaviour questionnaire which will help us determine whether you need our dog training service instead.

Behaviour Consultation Referral Process
Please follow these guidelines ahead of our behaviour consultation at your home:
-
To get the ball rolling, email us at info@animalkind.biz and we will provide you with a behaviour questionnaire and then contact your vet directly to ask them to refer you onto us.

-
Phone your vet and tell them we will be working together, and to look out for a referral form from us: https://forms.wix.com/r/7037472125585719436

-
While you are on the phone to your vet, book an appointment with your vet to check your dog’s health to make sure pain or illness is not contributing or causing the behaviour issue. (This will be necessary unless your vet saw your dog within the last few weeks, and you mentioned the behaviour issue to them at that time).

-
While we await your vet sending us your dog’s full health details (which generally takes 7 days), we will schedule a behaviour consultation at your home for around 2 - 4 weeks from you contacting us initially by email or our Contact Form.
