Whether you're dealing with complex behavioural concerns or just need guidance with everyday struggles, our compassionate, science-based approach ensures practical, effective solutions for you and your dog.

Dog Behaviour Services
Behaviour problems are often more deep-seated, complex, and perhaps long-standing than regular training issues. Any puppy or dog - of any age, sex and any breed - can have a behaviour problem.
You will certainly require a behaviour programme - rather than our puppy or dog training - if your dog is displaying aggression towards yourselves (not puppy mouthing), family members, including children, friends and visitors, members of the public, or your vet or groomer. We can really help if your dog is showing worrying behaviours to your other pets too.
The good news is that our team consists of both behaviourists and trainers: Chris Wills IMDT BSc MSc is both a qualified behaviourist at Masters level (Newcastle University), as well as a dog training instructor, and the Animal Kind Training & Behaviour team includes two other dogs trainers, Helen and Peta.
This means we can provide you with experienced behaviour expertise, and practical handling skills, as well as the environments, people and dogs to practice with.
Do we have a dog behaviour problem?
A behaviour issue is more severe, complex or requires a greater level of professional expertise and experience to understand and solve (i.e. you must have the correct qualifications to do so).
Most behaviour problems have at least one of the following components (whereas dog training problems don’t have any of these):
-
Pain or medical factors might be involved, for example if a significant and unexpected problem comes out of the blue. Which is why we liaise with your vet before we start.
-
There is an unusual level of risk involved for any participant, including yourself, your dog or members of your family, any member of the public, as well as vets and groomers.
-
There may be more than one significant problem going on at once.

Want to work together? Here's how.... for you and your vet
Arrange an appointment with us – email chris@animalkind.biz or call 07542 150036 or via: https://www.animalkind.co.uk/contact-us
Once we've got a date in the diary (or even before if you are ready) fill out our behaviour questionnaire so we can see what help you need: https://forms.wix.com/r/7090382811072299796
Inform your vet: Speak to your vet over the phone to tell them you will be working with Animal Kind Dog Training and Behaviour: This is crucial for GDPR - otherwise we will not be able to liaise with them before or after our Behaviour Consultation.
Has your dog been given a health check by your vet recently, and certainly since the behaviour problems started?
If not, you must book an appointment with your vet for a health check before our Behaviour Consultation. This is to make sure that illness or pain are not causing or exacerbating the behaviour. By diagnosing or ruling out underlying pain or illness which can trigger behaviour problems, it can help us diagnose the emotional causes and behavioural conditions.
You can give our Referral Form to your vet directly (by email, or in person) https://forms.wix.com/f/7037472125585719436
They can also download it themselves from our website. Your vet can then refer us your case and we can get on with helping you.
