Service Description

This initial session is available for any rescue breed of any age. Chris and Helen haven’t just worked professionally with hundreds of rehomed dogs during the last 20 years - from all parts of the world - they’ve also fostered 7 pups and taken two permanent rescue dogs into their homes - Macca and Luna (pictured). Knowing what newly rehomed dogs need, this initial consultation is purpose-made to help you avoid the major common pitfalls before they occur. If issues have already emerged, or been reported by previous owners, we will start a remedial plan to get ahead of the curve that often includes separation distress; resource guarding; nervousness around new people and reactivity to in-house dogs or out on walks. *In aggression cases, where bites have occurred or been reported, we can help, but a slightly different process involving vet referral is required, so please see our Behaviourist page to book a Consultation with Chris, as our leading Behaviourist.* Of course, we can also help with regular training problems such as lead walking and creating a plan to get your dog off-lead. This session first session for rescue dogs includes: * A structured walk is included to observe your dog’s behaviour in a real-world context and apply relevant training techniques. * Assessment of likely challenges based on your dog’s breed and personality that we observe during the session * Immediate training to begin addressing ongoing issues * Advice to avoid likely issues * Support in setting household rules and structure * A calm, supportive approach from experienced professionals * Guidance on recall, loose-lead walking, and impulse control At the end of the session, we’ll recommend the best next steps — whether that’s continuing with one-off follow ups, regular sessions, or exploring our Group Class options. Our flexible training packages ensure you’ll find the perfect fit for your needs. We’re here to support you every step of the way — helping you build a stronger, more rewarding bond with your dog through trust, clarity, and consistency. “Our rescue Westie, Sam had bad experiences as a puppy and was never socialised with other dogs or taken for walks. As a result, he always barked at other dogs. At the end of the program, Sam was more confident and we can now number a dozen or more dogs to his friendship list. We could not have achieved this without Chris’s knowledge, help and guidance,” said Bob Rowberry.
